Marian Patronage

Mother of Sorrows School is under the patronage of Mary, the mother of Jesus, under the title of Mother of Sorrows. The Sorrows of Mary are scripture based. They are:

1. The prophecy of Simeon (Luke 2:27-35)
2. The flight into Egypt (Matthew 2:13-15)
3. Loss of the child Jesus in the temple (Luke 2:43-51)
4. Mary meets Jesus carrying the cross (Luke 23:27)
5. Mary stands beneath the cross (John 19:25-27)
6. Mary receives the dead body of Jesus (John 19:38)
7. Jesus is laid in the tomb (John 19:39-42)
